Should you not colour you hair right before you get hair extensions?
I need to get the roots done on my hair and I'm also planning to have hair extensions. Should I not colour it right before incase it fades to a different colour from the extensions?! HELP! How long should i leave it for before I get the colour matched for the extensions?

Of course you can have hair color right before you get hair extensions, who told you that you cannot?. It is all about the type of hair extensions also. I use the best hair extensions in the world, and not only I can have hair color before having them on, but also with them on!. My schedule is as follows: Because my hair extensions are reusable I get them off every two months, usually when the extensions are very far from the roots. I get a deep hair conditioning after the hair color and reattach the extensions. Because I have hair color every month there is one time in between that I need to have the hair color while having the hair extensions on and it works great!. Also I do not need to get highlights ( just roots color) because the type of hair extensions I use allows me to get them in different shades creating the highlighting effect without suffering the time that the services requires!

.
Before you even consider colouring your hair, make an appointment at the salon for the extensions and ask the stylist what you should do. If you colour your hair before you go they may refuse to do it.
In my opinion, any good salon would, when you book in for hair extensions, tell you what you should and should not do before having the extensions done.

What you do is pick your extensions and then take them to the salon and get them to match the colour of your real hair to the extensions.
I have had extensions for about 5 years and have never had my natural colour, I always get it dyed and then have the extensions put in once it’s been blow dried.
Plus, if the colour isn’t 100% matched then it’s not that big a deal once the extensions are in, they tend to blend well and look like highlights if the colour isn’t exactly the same.

If you follow a proper logic, better don’t color your hair, only after you mount the hair-extensions. Why so, because when you color your hair it will be in one color and you will not notice the differences. Also by doing this you can hide the hair extensions much better.
